My personal protocol, and why
This is what I take, as one person with Crohn's disease, and it is here so you can see how a protocol gets constructed, not so you can copy it. Every item links to Fullscript because that is where I buy it.
How I built it. The Five are my non-negotiables; they cover inflammation, the barrier and the lumen, and they are the last things I would ever drop. Around them sit the entries that cover different points on the loop from Section B: fuel for the lining, the mucus layer, a few polyphenols that lean on cytokines curcumin doesn't, one probiotic, and repletion. Then the as-needed drawer. I keep the total lower than it looks: several of these are every-other-day or every-third-day, I taper as I feel better, and on a rest day I sometimes take nothing at all. The photos are the exact products I buy; where the product I actually use is not on Fullscript, the row says so.

| What | How I take it | Why it is in my protocol | Link | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The non-negotiable core · the Five | ||||
![]() | Curcumin · A-01 | 1–3 caps daily | The anti-inflammatory backbone, and the entry with the deepest trial record in both diseases. Phytosome form, always. | go.supplementsforibd.com/curcumin |
![]() | Quercetin · A-02 | 1–3 tabs daily, by feel | Repair Guard. The most powerful supplement I know for IBD; this is the one I move first when a flare threatens (next page). | go.supplementsforibd.com/quercetin |
![]() | Omega-3 · A-03 | 1–2 softgels daily | Depending on how much fish I have eaten that week. Triglyceride form. | go.supplementsforibd.com/omega-3 |
![]() | Bovine immunoglobulins · A-04 | 2 caps daily | Binds bacterial toxins before they reach the wall; firms stool. One of the few things here with human data in refractory IBD. | go.supplementsforibd.com/bovine-immunoglobulin |
![]() | Vitamin D3 · A-05 | 5,000 IU daily | Guided by my blood level, which I want at the upper end of normal. Rechecked at least yearly. | go.supplementsforibd.com/vitamin-d3 |
| The second ring · barrier, mucus, polyphenols, microbiome, repletion | ||||
![]() | L-glutamine · F-01 | 2,000 mg daily | Fuel for the small-intestinal lining, which is where my Crohn's lives. Safe, cheap, boring, effective for me. | go.supplementsforibd.com/glutamine |
![]() | Phosphatidylcholine · F-08 | daily | The mucus layer's main phospholipid. The drug-form trial failed, but I continue to believe it has a positive benefit on me. | go.supplementsforibd.com/phosphatidylcholine |
![]() | Resveratrol · C-06 | daily | After bilberry's anthocyanins, the polyphenol I have noticed the most from; it leans on cytokines curcumin does not. | go.supplementsforibd.com/resveratrol |
![]() | Bilberry · C-01 | 1 cap daily | The most potent anthocyanin source I know of, with the open-label UC data to match. | go.supplementsforibd.com/bilberry |
![]() | Medicinal mushrooms · C-16 to C-20 | every other day | Host Defense Stamets 7, Paul Stamets' daily blend of seven species; the β-glucans feed the microbiome and train innate immunity. | go.supplementsforibd.com/seven-mushroom-blend |
![]() | Probiotic · D-04 | 1 cap daily | The one multi-strain product I trust. Not a believer in probiotics generally, but this profile earns its place. | go.supplementsforibd.com/probiotic-50b |
![]() | Multivitamin · J-00 | 1 cap every 3rd day | Repletion insurance without overdoing B12 or fat-soluble vitamins; see the doubling-up rule. | go.supplementsforibd.com/multivitamin |
![]() | Vitamin C · J-12 | every other day, before exercise | PERQUE Potent C Guard, a buffered powder in cold water before I train. Intense exercise transiently loosens the gut barrier, and vitamin C blunted a marker of that leak in a small study of healthy volunteers, a tip I first read in the Briggs paper. (refs 180–181) | go.supplementsforibd.com/potent-c-guard |
![]() | L-theanine · M-03 | daily, through the day | Always, and especially with coffee. An extraordinary tool for focus without the edge; it simply feels good. What I actually use is the GIVOL spray, which is not on Fullscript; this capsule is the Fullscript option. | go.supplementsforibd.com/l-theanine |
