L-tyrosine
The amino acid the brain turns into dopamine and noradrenaline. In randomized studies, tyrosine preserves working memory and attention when the dopamine system is under load: sleep loss, cold, multitasking, acute stress. There are no good trials in ADHD and none in IBD; the bridge to this guide is mechanistic, since inflammation lowers dopamine tone, which is part of why active disease feels like brain fog. Free-form, taken on an empty stomach so it is not crowded out by other amino acids.
Andrew's notes
On an empty stomach, first thing in the morning, as needed. It does nothing for me taken with food. A slight lift in mood and concentration; it helps my ADHD. Secondary to everything else in this guide.
