Phosphatidylserine

Integrative Therapeutics, Phosphatidylserine 100 mg (soy-free) · 60 softgels
Sleep · stress · attention

A phospholipid concentrated in cell membranes, and in the brain more than anywhere else. Phosphatidylserine has randomized trials for memory and attention in older adults and for blunting the cortisol response to exercise and mental stress in younger ones; it is one of the few nutrients with a qualified FDA health claim for cognition. In IBD the bridge is mechanistic and indirect: the same stress-cortisol axis described on the previous page, plus its kinship with phosphatidylcholine (F-08), the mucus layer's main phospholipid. Soy-free sunflower-derived form, no additives of concern.

Very well tolerated. Mild insomnia or stomach upset at high doses; separate from blood thinners by a few hours as a precaution.
Andrew's notes

I call phosphatidylserine the baseline cognitive and neuro supplement. It is very safe, there may be some IBD evidence, and it pairs naturally with the phosphatidylcholine in F-08: the two phospholipids belong to the same membranes. If attention, stress or recovery is the thing you are working on, this is where I would start, and it sits underneath everything else in this section.
