Zinc carnosine

Zinc carnosine (polaprezinc)

What to know

Andrew wants this one emphasized: a zinc-carnosine chelate that stays in contact with the gut lining, developed in Japan as an ulcer drug (polaprezinc). In a London crossover trial, 37.5 mg twice daily completely prevented the threefold rise in gut permeability that five days of indomethacin caused in volunteers, and it stimulated gut-cell repair in the lab; a later trial paired it with colostrum against exercise-induced leak. One of the few entries with human data on the tight junctions themselves; no IBD trial yet. Contains magnesium stearate.
